About the Team

The Greensburg YMCA’s competitive swim program participates in a Western PA YMCA Swim League, National YMCA sponsored Championship Meets and YMCA Invitational Meets.  Also as a member of USS Swimming, Greensburg participates in AMS meets and Aqua Club Invitational Meets. To date, GYST has won several Team Championships and continues to produce a large number of District-, State-, and National-level ranked competitors and Champions.

The Greensburg YMCA has an experienced and talented coaching staff eager to work toward both individual and team improvement.

Benefits
Team members develop all of the competitive strokes while working on endurance skills.  There is a great feeling in belonging to the team, traveling to different YMCAs, and making new friends.  It’s a GREAT experience and lots of FUN!

Description
This team is open to any elementary, junior or senior high school swimmer who can swim one length of the pool and is interested in competitive swimming.  This is an age group team.  Swimmers compete within their own age group. To familiarize yourself with some common swim team terms please consult the GLOSSARY.

Age Groups

Eligibility

Candidates must be able to swim a minimum of one length of the pool with no assistance.

+ FREE TRIAL +
There is a FREE two week trial period before each season. 
We encourage you and your children to come try out for the team!

Fall/Winter Season
Season runs October through March with December 1st determining a swimmers age group.  Practices held Monday through Thursday evening and Sundays.  Meets are held on Saturdays at various YMCA’s in the Division and begin the first week of December.

Summer Season
Season runs mid-May through mid-July.  Practice schedule includes mornings and evenings.  Meets run Tuesday/Thursday evenings in June/July ending with a Champ-ionship Summer Swim Meet.

Support Our Stingrays (S.O.S.)
The Greensburg Y Swim Team Stingrays has a parent organization called Support Our Stingrays. (S.O.S.)  Parents help in a variety of ways, mainly fundraising for equipment and officiating of home meets.  Parents provide positive support for their children.
